Miles solos throughout have an almost ascetic purity about them. But Miles was delighted by a more personal assessment. In his autobiography he remembered: After Miles Ahead came out, Dizzy (Gillespie) came by one day to see me and asked for another copy of the record because he had played his so much he had worn it out in three weeks.
