Po svém odchodu z Deep Purple založil zpěvák David Coverdale v roce 1978 rockovou formaci, která podobně jako Deep Purple vycházela z hard rocku, ale kladla větší důraz na líbivé melodie. V osmdesátých letech Whitesnake natočili několik desek, které se dostaly do britské Top 10, s eponymním albem z roku 1987 se dokázali prosadit i ve Spojených státech.

Osmé studiové album Whitesnake vyšlo v listopadu 1989. U příležitosti kulatého výročí je vychází opulentní reedice. Nově zremasterovaná deska je k dispozici ve variantách CD. 2CD, 2LP a 6CD/DVD. V rozšířených verzích najdete nevydané dobové nahrávky ze studia, záznam z festivalu Monsters of Rock 1990 (audio i video podoba), interview s Davidem Coverdalem i další memorabílie.
